Hope Valley Tim Hulley spent his childhood in Sheffield and now lives on the edge of the Peak District and was a prolific climber from his early teens to early 2000. This led him to study Performance Sportswear Design at Derby University then work designing for well-known local outdoor clothing manufacturers. Tim paints local landscapes inspired by his own personal experiences on the rocky edges of the peak. The paintings have a physicality from a closeness to the rock face itself. The acrylic paint is applied heavily onto the canvas by palette knife where colours are mixed in-situ creating a representation/abstract painting of local landscapes. His influences include Turner, Andy Parkin, Constable and Van Gogh. The Secret Garden,
